28,000 Football Supporters and counting ….16th Dec 2009
The 2010 Football League Supporter Survey which launched in November has now attracted more than 28,000 completed surveys from supporters making it one of the largest consultations in Sport, let alone in professional football.
The survey, conducted by Sportswise on behalf of the Football League, lets fans have their say on a range of important issues from the introduction of goal line technology, sin bins and salary caps to refereeing standards, football on television and diving.
Lord Mawhinney, Football League Chairman commented, “This is the opportunity for fans to tell us their views on the football they watch. The opinions expressed in our two previous surveys contributed to our thinking as we developed our regulations on agents, our new home grown players rule and our smoke free policy at matches”.
Jon Downer, Sportswise, commented, “This is an ambitious survey both in its scope and range of questioning and also the sheer scale of canvassing. Our target is to consult with more than 40,000 supporters by January 2010, then to deliver club level analysis to the 72 member clubs by February. Simultaneously, we will be working with the Football League to draft a summary report and overview of the results”.
